Eliminating Dependency on Helium Supply for Your Thermal Desorption GC/MS Analysis

In this webinar you will learn the practicalities and benefits of using hydrogen as a carrier gas in place of helium to support your thermal desorption GC/MS analysis.

Helium is increasingly expensive and difficult to source as a gas chromatography carrier gas. Switching to hydrogen carrier gas is the obvious alternative to eliminate this dependency on helium for GC and also thermal desorption-GC-MS.

In this webinar you will learn the practicalities and benefits of using hydrogen as a carrier gas in place of helium including:

  • Enhanced productivity
  • Cost and time saving
  • Superior analytical performance
  • Convenience
  • Sustainable
  • Future-proofing

Markes’ award-winning Multi-Gas Enabled thermal desorption instruments have been independently certified to operate with helium, nitrogen and hydrogen. We’ll look at eliminating dependency on helium by offering greater flexibility. These multi-gas enabled thermal desorption instruments are being used with hydrogen as the carrier gas for challenging applications such as TO-15 and PAH analysis.

Having an instrument that has been independently tested and validated so that the full Thermal Desorption GC/MS analytical instrumentation and workflow can be configured to work with hydrogen, also allows us to investigate impurities within hydrogen fuel samples which we will discuss.

Key Webinar Take-aways:

  • Why hydrogen is a viable alternative to helium
  • Eliminating dependency on helium, and benefits of using hydrogen as a carrier gas for TD-GC-MS
  • The necessity for a hydrogen certified thermal desorption for analysis of hydrogen fuel samples
