Advanced Coatings and Deformulation with Pyrolysis-GC/MS

During this webinar with Paints & Coatings Industry magazine, we provide an overview of reverse engineering and deformulation protocols for advanced coatings using multi-mode Pyrolysis GC/MS.

Advanced coatings and deformulation is a hot topic in the paints and coatings industry. Smart and advanced coatings connote materials properties that add value to function and performance – even for demanding applications. A number of these coatings have been developed for commercial use, and understanding their action could be key to the competitive development of alternate formulations. This webinar will give an overview of reverse engineering protocols for various coatings using the modern-day Frontier EGA/PY-3030D pyrolysis system interfaced with a GC/MS instrument.

Key webinar takeaways:

  • Learn about smart coatings and the classification of state-of-the-art materials in the coatings industry
  • Uncover various approaches in reverse engineering or investigative methods in determining compositions
  • Discover how Evolved Gas Analysis, Thermal Desorption, flash Pyrolysis, Heart-Cutting, and Double-Shot are used for coatings characterization
  • Learn how to increase data accuracy and efficiency in your quality control, deformulation, contamination, unknown identification, and failure analyses
